About LaserVerse
Bespoke Interactive Light and Creative Technology
LaserVerse is an Australian creative-technology studio creating bespoke interactive installations that combine lasers, projection, artificial intelligence, sound, sculpture and real-time audience participation.
The studio develops ambitious experiences from initial concept through custom software, systems integration, fabrication planning and public presentation.
What the studio creates
LaserVerse develops audience-activated installations designed to inspire wonder and awe across generations. Visitors touch, move, perform and participate, discovering connection through technology that can otherwise separate us.
From monumental laser harps and AI-powered mirror worlds to atmospheric laser canopies, projection-mapped sculptures, responsive performance environments and real-time generative visuals, each work is custom-developed as a complete interactive environment.
Bespoke and site-responsive development
Works can be adapted for festivals, cultural organisations, museums, galleries, visitor destinations, public spaces and major activations. New commissions can be developed around a site, theme, audience or creative ambition.
Unlike conventional laser production focused primarily on visual effects, LaserVerse specialises in immersive storytelling and tailor-made interactive systems. Creative and technical systems are developed as one environment.
Lasers as interfaces
LaserVerse extends the laser harp beyond its traditional role as a performance instrument. Lasers become spatial interfaces through which people can play, communicate, compose and transform the environment around them—integrating AI-generated visuals, projection mapping, responsive lighting, sculpture, spatial audio and sensing systems.
Selected delivery evidence
The Performer — Giant Interactive Laser Harp was presented inside Civic Hall for White Night Ballarat 2024, where thousands of visitors activated monumental laser beams to generate music and projected visuals.
Interhuman Crescendo, developed for The Museum of Desire in Melbourne, combined interactive laser harp technology, AI image transformation and 3D projection mapping in a long-duration public installation experienced by more than 55,000 visitors.
Developing works include Portal — Mirror to Other Realities; pAInter to the People; AI Bloom: Interactive Begonias, supported through the City of Ballarat Creative Inspiration Grant; Sky Harp; Galaxy Dancer; Robot Dancer — Neon World; Kinetic Conduct — Held in the Field; Laser Sunrise; and Aurora Canopy.
Founder and Creative Director
Nicholas D’Ombrain
LaserVerse is founded and creatively led by Nicholas D’Ombrain, whose multidisciplinary background spans technical production and sound engineering across Berlin, London and England; audiovisual installation engineering in Melbourne; music mastering through Zeitgeist Mastering; independent label direction through Mind Field Records; and music-production education as a course tutor with Producertech. This combination of engineering discipline, live-event experience, music culture and experimental media informs LaserVerse’s approach to ambitious interactive experiences.
Relevant artistic and technical experience
Selected previous roles include technical work with Arup and Church House in London, Ellerbrock and For You Events in Berlin, Terry Tew Sound & Light across England, and Rutledge Engineering in Melbourne. Nicholas has also created and taught several successful online music-production courses through Producertech.
As technology continues to evolve, LaserVerse explores how laser-based and generative systems can move beyond spectacle to create emotionally resonant, playful and deeply engaging public experiences.
